With the successful return of a top predator to Wisconsin's North Woods and central forests, the federal government proposes to reduce protection given to the gray wolf under the Endangered Species Act.
The only statewide public hearing on the federal proposal is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Mitby Theater at Madison Area Technical College's Truax campus. A presentation on the proposal by Ron Refsnider of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be followed by public testimony. There will not be a question-and-answer session.
