Oct. 6--Hewlett-Packard Co. said Thursday that its Roseville facility stands to gain business from a deal to distribute and market computer servers for NEC Corp., the Japanese electronics conglomerate.
The NEC-made servers -- high-speed computers that power Web sites and computer networks -- will be marketed under the HP name starting in the first part of next year.
The Roseville facility, which employs 6,200 workers, will configure the servers -- that is, load them up with processors, memory chips, software and other ingredients -- before they're shipped to customers, said HP spokesman Brian Cox.
