The biggest challenge for an amateur sports league comes not on the field, but in the office, where someone has to keep the games organized.
But a new Internet-based service has been introduced in Chicago that hopes to eliminate paperwork for local park districts and make it easier for amateur players to check game schedules, team information and even personal statistics.
"Our Web site has information about recreational sports throughout the area," says Andy Solomon, president and chief executive of StreetZebra Inc. in Marina Del Rey, Calif. "If you want to learn about a sport or sign up for a team, you can find it at StreetZebra.com."
