She did not dwell on the issue of seniority. Nor did she wonder if her paycheck would grow by 3 percent, or 5 percent.
After 31 years of service in a Boston public school classroom, Barbara Fragopoulos chose to obsess over something that will never be measured, or quantified in the next union contract.
This teacher, who works with visually impaired children at the Washington Irving Middle School in Jamaica Plain, spoke about the steady erosion of good faith. She believes the gulf of mistrust between the Boston Teachers Union, the school department and City Hall has grown so wide and bitter it may never be bridged - strike or no strike.
