Mosquitoes seem to be attracted to pregnant women, according to scientists at the University of Durham, England, and the Medical Research Council, Gambia, who found that pregnant women are bitten by mosquitoes twice as often as non-pregnant women. The particular mosquito studied was the African malaria-carrying mosquito. The researchers suggest that the physiological changes that take place during pregnancy could cause the increased mosquito-biting.
