BOSTON--Some 1,200 women and a few men attended the 21st annual conference of theNational Women's Studies Association (NWSA) held at Simmons College. This year's conference featured a one-day Lesbian Institute.

"This is the first lesbian plenary organized by the Lesbian Caucus," said Bette Tallen, a long-time NWSA Governing Council member who works on diversity programming at the University of Central Florida.
