While a new favorite sport around the Hub is guessing which media mogul may buy the Red Sox, Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch's gang should be concerned about its new six-year, $2.5 billion baseball investment.
Just before last night's Mariners-Yankees American League Championship Series opener launched NBC's last diamond involvement through 2006, it was revealed that the combined Fox-NBC seven-game Division Series rating (just 5.0) sank 28 percent from a year ago.
And ESPN's average was flat at 2.9.
That won't much bother NBC officials still reeling from the lowest Olympic numbers in 32 years. Not since they said no to baseball after this ALCS.
