Various festive events were held over the weekend to celebrate President Kim Dae-jung's winning of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Restaurants and hotels added to the festive mood by offering free meals or dishes to citizens.

Major industrial giants ran ads in daily newspapers to congratulate President Kim on snatching the world's most prestigious prize.

Department stores also jumped on the festive mood in a bid to combine the Nobel Peace Prize with sales promotion events.

Website operators as well took the opportunity to post their congratulatory messages.
