Inter-Tel, Incorporated (Nasdaq: INTL) today announced operating results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2000. Net sales for the first quarter reached a record $96.4 million, an increase of 47.1% over net sales of $65.5 million for the first quarter of 1999. Net income for the first quarter ended March 31, 2000 was $2.1 million ($0.08 per diluted common share), excluding a charge for in-process research and development costs, compared to net income of $5.1 million ($0.19 per diluted common share) for the first quarter of 1999.
