LONDON, July 24 (UPI)
British Airways said Monday it has grounded one of its seven Concorde supersonic jets after tests revealed cracks on the aircraft's wings.
A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman told United Press International the microscopic cracks were discovered during routine tests by independent inspectors, but that all aircraft except the grounded jet were safe to fly.
"We are quite happy with the situation, the cracks have been monitored regularly and the aircraft are safe to fly," a spokeswoman for the authority said.
She said the Concorde's French manufacturer, Aero Spatiale, had started repairs on the grounded jet.
