ATLANTA -- Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne infection that resembles Lyme disease, is rapidly emerging in Connecticut. But the long-term sequelae of ehrlichiosis seem to be more benign that those of Lyme disease.
Between 1995 and 1998, the annual incidence of infection in Connecticut with human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HCE) or human monocytic ehrlichiosis jumped from 1 case per 100,000 to 4 per 100,000, James Meek said in a poster at an international conference on emerging infectious diseases sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
