In an advanced social studies methods class at the University College of Education of Winneba, Ghana, we held a mock conference on global environmental problems and their implications for U.S. policy. My students, all experienced teachers, played the roles of American environmental activists, CEOs, and others, and I played the part of Vice President Gore. Then as Ghanaians, the students wrote letters to the vice president, stating what they believed the United States should do about global environmental problems.
