ALLORA: A ONE-MAN BAND
NEW YORK--Barry Frankel took a risk when he started Allora, a small leather goods firm here, last November. Frankel, who has just launched his first full fall collection, is a one-man company, designing the line, overseeing production and selling it.
He had been in the handbag business for more than 20 years, until, he said, he grew disenchanted with the industry as imports pushed a lot of companies out of business. After two years in commercial real estate, Frankel decided it was not for him and he wanted to get back into the leather good business.
