In a survey of 50 corporate political executives conducted by the Public Affairs Council, Gov. George W. Bush edges out Vice President Al Gore 26 to 24.

The margin of victory for the winning candidate, say 30 of the campaign- savvy executives, will be between 1 and 3 percent. Eighteen others believe it will range from 4 to 6 percent. Two place the margin at between 7 and 9 percent, and one estimates it will top 10 percent.

Forty-two of the 50 executives expect the Senate to be Republican- controlled next year, but 28 believe the Democrats will be in power in the House, and 20 see a Republican House win.
