General Assembly considers United States move to close PLO office

World Court rules United States must arbitrate

On 26 April, the World Court ruled unanimously that the United States must submit to international arbitration regarding its decision to close the PLO Observer Mission to the United Nations.

The General Assembly, meeting in two resumed sessions in early 1988, has considered the question of the closing of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Observer Mission to the United Nations. It did so after learning that the United States might close down the Mission under the terms of its 1987 Anti-Terrorism Act.
