DEARBORN, Mich.--Visteon Corp., the world's second largest automotive component supplier, is allying itself with Japanese hose maker Nichirin Co. Ltd. "as part of a strategy for global leadership within the automotive hose market."
As a first step, Visteon--formerly Ford Motor Co.'s component supply arm--and Nichirin are setting up a joint venture air conditioning hose plant in the Czech Republic to supply a Visteon hose coupling plant at its Autopal complex in Novy Jicin.
Related to the creation of the joint venture, Visteon plans to take a 10-percent stake in Nichirin for about $2.7 million, the companies said.
