Facing limited budgets and growing competition to attract students, public universities in Northeast Ohio are trying to implement technology that students find enticing and that will prepare them well for the future.
Most, like Kent State University, Cleveland State University and the University of Akron, have a foundation of campuswide Internet access, computer labs and free e-mail. Yet all face challenges maintaining the basics: enough labs for students who don't have their own computers, networks that stay up and running, printers that work, and software that stays diversified and upgraded.
