Classroom plant activities have long been inexpensive, easy to do, and fun for students. They have become even more central to biology teaching recently, however, because of the introduction of some innovative new plant activity curricula. Recent restrictions on the use of animals in student experiments because of pressure from animal rights activists have also encouraged the increased use of plants in the classroom.
