Paul G. Johnson, God and World Religions: Basic Beliefs and Themes. Shippensburg, PA (P.O. Box 152; 17257): Ragged Edge Press, 1997. Pp.287. $24.95.
Written to emphasize God in religion and to communicate a positive view of world religions to lay people, this book offers a superficial and sometimes misleading picture of beliefs and practices. Johnson sets the direction early, affirming monotheism and offering a "mini tour" of thirteen world religions (a one-paragraph summary for each: native religion in North and South America, African religion, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Baha'i).
