Massachusetts prosecutors and judges are increasingly turning to "anger management" programs as a condition of sentencing or probation for suspects arrested in assault and battery cases, road rage episodes and even domestic violence crimes, officials say.
"There has been a tremendous growth in the court system's need to deal with the overall level of social anger and violence out there," said Judge Mark S. Coven, the presiding judge for the Quincy District Court. "These programs give me confidence that these offenders will receive some degree of help with their problems."
