Union Switch & Signal Inc. (US&S) has introduced an electronic switch machine controller that features no moving parts, markedly reduces maintenance and inspection costs, and offers predictive maintenance capabilities.
The US&S ECC M-style switch machine controller is a patent-pending, microprocessor-based control device that delivers switch machine indications to a wayside signaling system and uses inductive proximity sensors to vitally monitor the internal locking mechanism of a switch machine and the position of the switch points. It eliminates the moving parts used in mechanical switch machine controllers.
