YES The American Diabetes Association has concluded that screening be done selectively on the basis of six exclusionary criteria. To be deemed low risk, they must be younger than age 25, be of a normal prepregnancy weight, belong to an ethnic group with a low prevalence of gestational diabetes, have no first-degree relatives with diabetes, have no personal history of abnormal glucose tolerance and no history of poor obstetrical outcome.
