The Florida Supreme Court has authorized setting up the Trial Court Budget Commission to oversee the preparation and implementation of trial court finances in the overall state court budget.
The new commission had been recommended by the court's Article V Funding Steering Committee and comes as the legislature is studying how to take over more funding of trial courts from counties following approval by voters of a constitutional amendment in 1998. The court acted August 31 in Amendments to Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, case no. SC00-429.
