New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, and 98 Degrees did it, even when they and others around them thought it couldn't happen.
So, if it happened for those boy bands, why not 5th Gear?
Here's the story:
Cameron Knight, a night deejay for WZEE-FM (Z104), got the idea to form a boy band, and his station backed him up.
Last month Z104 held auditions attracting more than 100 ``boys,'' and out of those auditions, 5th Gear was born. The boys were judged on singing a cappella, singing with a boy band track and dancing. The five best were selected, and, voila! A boy band was born.
