Salt, sugar and caffeine.
Too much of any of these ingredients in foods that kids love may create health problems.
But what can parents, teachers and others do to encourage children to consume less of foods that are unhealthy for them?
Teaching them at a very young age to read food labels is one strategy recommended by nutrition experts, including Jean Turner, a quality control manager with the Okaloosa County (Fla.) School District food services office.
"Children need to learn how to read the labels and make their own wise food choices," says Turner, who uses USDA regulations every day in her job.
