Leo F. Mullin, the chairman and CEO of Delta Air Lines, has indicated that discount carrier Southwest Airlines will be a formidable competitor as the latter moves into markets in the East Coast and in Florida.

The Florida market accounts for about 30% of Delta Air Lines' revenues; however the carrier also has its Delta Express market operating in the area, which Mullin says will be its main weapon against Southwest Airlines.
