As merger activity across national borders increases, the United States top antitrust official has endorsed the concept of a multilateral organization to standardize the way international mergers are treated. "The time has come for a world organization committed to these issues," commented Assistant Attorney General Joel Klein at an international meeting of economists and antitrust officials in Brussels last week.
