BASKING IN QUICK RESPONSE AT PALM BEACH NEW YORK -- Edward Kaminow, president of Palm Beach Co., doesn't talk in generalities when he's explaining the electronic ordering and replenishment system the company switched on early this year for its specialty store customers.
Instead, he pulls out proof: order sheets that show a store using the system bought nearly four times as many Palm Beach suits and one-third more blazers in the first four months of this year compared with the same period in 1987.
