Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) given to HIV infected women reduces the incidence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and resultant cytological abnormalities, researchers in the United States have found.
"Infection and disease caused by oncogenic HPV are more common among HIV infected women and are associated with severity of immunosuppression and magnitude of HIV-1 RNA plasma levels," stated A.E.
