The Anoka Halloween Grand Day Parade got started just after noon Saturday to the strains of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" played on massed trumpets, trombones, tubas and tympani.
At least 170 bands and floats stretched for miles under a bright fall sky, led by a color guard, for which most of the thousands lining the parade route stood respectfully.
