The Supreme Court has rejected a challenge to the merit selection and retention referendum ballot language which goes before the state's voters in November.
Acting September 12- less than four hours after hearing oral arguments --the unanimous court issued a two-sentence order denying the petition for writ of mandamus filed by a number of South Florida lawyers challenging that the ballot language was misleading. The order, in case no. SC00-1644, said the court will issue an opinion at a later date.
