More married women are working outside the home as part of their efforts to help support their families amid a recent economic downturn.
The Korea Labor Administration (KLA) said yesterday that 66,092 women got jobs via job placement offices affiliated with the Ministry of Labor in the third quarter of the year, 33.2 percent up from the 49,608 a year earlier.
Among them, 34,500 married women, or 43.9 percent, got employed in the July-September period. The figure marked a 43.9 percent surge compared with the 22,979 reported a year ago.
