The Cambodian government is intent on meeting its policy of making the cost of electricity cheaper. Hence, it is now planning to turn to less expensive power sources. As a result, the MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY, MINES & ENERGY recently announced that it intended to build a new gas-fired power station.

Construction plans under consideration call for building a power plant with an installed generating capacity of 180 Mw. The proposed complex, to be sited in the port city of Sihanoukville, is expected to require an investment of $200,000,000 to build.
