PROJECT OVERVIEW
The local GHANA BAUXITE CO. (GBC) is reportedly expected to produce some 500,000 t/y of bauxite during the year 2000. And, the company recently announced that it was planning to double its production output.
As things currently stand, GBC is completing a project feasibility study on its reserve base. The upgrade project in question will also reportedly include refurbishing its 480 km- long rail line extending from its mine as well as the installation of a new wagon tiper at its port facilities.
GBC is a joint venture company held by Canada-based ALUMINUM COMPANY OF CANADA (ALCAN - 80%) and the government of Ghana (20%).
