The UK chemicals multinational, Hickson International PLC, said group environmental expenditure totalled GBP2.70 million ($4.4 million) in 1999, compared with GBP1.75 million ($2.9 million) in 1998. Hickson says all group companies collect and report environmental data to corporate management on a monthly basis. According to Hickson's health, safety and environment (HSE) report, the group generated 15,180 tonnes of hazardous waste for disposal in 1999: a 32.5% fall compared with the 22,488 tonnes reported in 1998.
