Y. Tanaka, noted for his success in analyzing the exact molecular structure of natural rubber, has won the Charles Goodyear Medal, the ACS Rubber Division's highest award.
The division also announced during its fall meeting in Cincinnati it has selected Gary R. Hamed of the University of Akron's College of Polymer Science and Engineering as the winner of the George Stafford Whitby Award for distinguished teaching and research; and James E. McGrath of Virginia Tech as the recipient of the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award.
The trio will be honored at the division's spring meeting in Providence, R.I., next April.
