Oct. 31--You're running to a fast food restaurant for a burger and fries. Out of cash, you plan on using your credit card. Instead, you're directed to the newly installed cash machine in the corner.
By drawing cash out of the ATM, the actual cost of your lunch could double.
Paying ATM fees is the price of convenience, say Colorado Springs' McDonald's franchisees.
Several Springs McDonald's restaurants are installing new ATMs, largely because the franchisees say there's a demand for them.
"It's whatever's most convenient to your customer," said Steve Bigari, who owns nine local franchises.
