The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today announced that it is voluntarily removing from store shelves all over-the-counter (OTC) drug products containing phenylpropanolamine (PPA) in response to the recent consumer health advisory issued by the FDA.

PPA is an ingredient used in many OTC cough and cold medications as a decongestant and in some OTC weight loss products.

As a precautionary measure, Kroger is in the process of notifying its stores to remove OTC drug products containing PPA from store shelves immediately. Approximately 55 items in the cough, cold and weight loss category will be removed from store shelves. ...
