Article: SUMITOMO BAKELITE TO MAKE ELECTRONIC PARTS RESIN IN CHINA.

TOKYO, Nov 16 Asia Pulse - Sumitomo Bakelite Co. (TSE:4203) will start producing phenolic resin in Suzhou, China in spring 2002, the company said Thursday.

The company will spend 1.6 billion yen (US$14.8 million) to build a plant at a local subsidiary. It intends to use the plant to reinforce its position as the largest producer of the material, taking advantage of increased demand for cellular phones and office automation equipment.

The new plant will be capable of producing 6,000 tons of phenolic resin annually, with sales in the first fiscal year targeted at 1.7 billion ...
