A high usage of paracetamol (acetaminophem) might partly explain why the prevalence of asthma and other allergic diseases is higher in some countries than others, according to research published in the November 2000 issue of the European Respiratory Journal.
Scientists from King's College, London, United Kingdom, recently found an association between frequent paracetamol use and asthma in adults. This prompted them to investigate whether asthma, eczema, and rhinitis were more common in countries with higher paracetamol sales.
