Spring Valley quarterback Tom Sauve's stat line from Thursday's WIAA Division 6 championship game against Highland looks like it came straight out of a horror flick.
Five interceptions, two fumbles. Plus, Sauve led the Cardinals into the red zone at Camp Randall five times -- and came up empty every time.
All of that may not have made it into Sauve's original script, but the fairy-tale ending stayed intact as Spring Valley edged Highland, 8-0, on the strength of an improbable 57-yard touchdown connection between Sauve and wide receiver Troy Timm late in the first half.
