The blood in Hyderabad is no cause to flinch again
WHEN several carloads of unknown Pakistanis machine-gunned their way through the southern city of Hyderabad on October Ist, killing 185 people, they shot to pieces the hope that Pakistan would go calmly into next month's long-postponed parliamentary election. The violence spread; nervous people talked of another delay in the vote, even of martial law. To falter now would be to misunderstand the nature of such violence in that part of the world. Political mayhem is as subcontinental as somozas; shutting down politics does not stop the killing.
