DENVER _ The Gus Bus bounced threw a pot hole, hit some ice, slid through a guard rail, careened off a cliff, rolled several times and tossed some of its occupants. When it finally came to a rest, everyone jumped out and started screaming.
In ecstasy.
Gus Frerotte walked the precarious line between hero and goat before leading Denver to a come-from-behind, 38-37, win over winless San Diego on Sunday, one of the wackiest games ever played at Mile High Stadium.
"Right now, it's all about the win," Denver defensive tackle Trevor Pryce said. "(Sunday) we'll worry about the style points."
