Where did Marco get his love of travel from? He was born into a merchant family, and his father and uncle travelled extensively during Marco's early life. Marco's passion undoubtedly developed under his father's influence.
How did his travels begin? Marco's father returned from the East when he was 15, to find that he had been given custody of Marco after his wife's death some years earlier. Marco subsequently joined his uncle and father on their next journey.
