Nov. 17--Dominion Virginia Power promises that a record air-pollution settlement with the federal government and the state of New York will not mean higher electricity prices for its customers.
The company has agreed to spend $1.2 billion on pollution-control equipment at its coal-fired power plants in Virginia and West Virginia during the next dozen years as part of a settlement with New York and the federal Environmental Protection Agency and Justice Department.
Additionally, Virginia Power will spend $13.9 million on unspecified environmental projects in Virginia, West Virginia and New York and pay a $5.3 million penalty to resolve issues with the EPA ...
