Nov. 20--MINOT, N.D.--Dakota Growers Pasta Co. of Carrington, N.D., may consider extending its membership into Canada because of two years of poor-quality crops in the region.
"You have to ask the question: does it make sense to expand your grower base into Saskatchewan?" says Tim Dodd, co-op president. He was interviewed Nov. 14 during the annual Crop Outlook and Issues Forum and the International Durum Forum in Minot, N.D.
Supplies of adequate quality durum have been hard to come by after back- to-back years of quality problems. This year, the woes range from scab in early-planted durum to sprout damage after early September rains.
