Nov. 22--CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--Chapel Hill Broadband, a 10-employee start-up that brokers access to fiber-optic networks for communications companies, is splitting into two businesses. The split represents another major shift for a company that was founded only in February.
With long-term leasing deals in the United States, Chapel Hill Broadband will continue to match buyers and sellers of unused broadband capacity on information pipelines that carry phone calls and Internet traffic. Company founder Henry Kaestner will launch Bandwidth International, which will broker short-term broadband deals in Europe.
