Thanksgiving is a day to gather and feast with family and friends. But Wisconsin's Mayflower descendants set an extra place Thursday -- for the ghosts of the Pilgrims.
Gloria Jackson's family talked about their Mayflower heritage at the dinner table, especially for the benefit of the grandchildren. Jackson, 71, of Chaseburg, is a descendant of six Mayflower passengers.
``I can't imagine leaving everything behind and going across the wilderness. It must have taken a lot of courage, and I think we honor our ancestors by remembering them.''
Jackson is a member of the Wisconsin Society of Mayflower Descendants. The group has about 340 members who ...
