On November 1 the New York Times reported that the Immune Response Corporation "tried to block the publication of a scientific paper that showed its HIV vaccine was not effective, and it has asked for damages of more than $7 million from the universities and researchers who published the findings." [1] The disputed paper was published in the same day's issue of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), [2] along with several articles and editorials on relationships with industry and conflict of interest in medical research.
