Sodium benzoate is made from benzoic acid and sodium bicarbonate, the consumption of benzoic acid (content [greater than]99.5%) is 1045 kg/ton product; sodium bicarbonate (content [greater than]98%) is 7610 kg/ton product.
Sodium benzoate is produced in China since 1960', currently there are about 40 thousand t/a production capacity with over 30 producers located mainly at Hubei,Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hebei and other provinces and cities. The major producers are as follows: Wuhan Organic Trade Co.
